What is the TEC?
Public Transport in Wallonia.
As public transport operator in the Walloon Region, TEC – which stands for "Transport En Commun" – is one of the key players in mobility and in economic, social and sustainable development in Belgium.
Our mission
With 5,696 employees covering 120 professional areas, TEC is a high commitment company, in which all its members share a joint project: to continuously improve the performance, user-friendliness and sustainability of the public transport it provides, which today adds up to nearly 2,500 buses and trams on the 778 lines that wind their way through Wallonia.
One company
TEC, whose legal name is Opérateur de Transport de Wallonie (OTW), is made up of six Transverse Directions and five Business Units. Together, they provide the Walloon Government with pricing structures and infrastructure investment programmes, pursue further development and concrete joint actions and are responsible for defining and operating the TEC public transport network.
The TEC
The regional government approves regulatory provisions, appoints the representatives of the various bodies and validates the pricing structures and investment programmes put forward by TEC.
The Wallonia Public Service (SPW) supervises, manages and controls regional policy with regard to public and school transport (laws, budgets, regulations etc.).
The purpose of the Autorité Organisatrice du Transport is to build and further develop public transport, translate the needs of citizens into guidelines and comply with available budgets.
