Accessibility statement

The TEC is committed to making its website and mobile application as accessible as possible for people with disabilities, in accordance with the Decree of 2 May 2019 on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies (Walloon Region).

This accessibility statement applies to:

The TEC website and mobile app partially comply with the accessibility standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed in the “Non-accessible content” sections.

An external audit of the accessibility of the TEC website and mobile application was carried out. This audit, carried out by Anysurfer in February 2021, consisted of a general analysis of non-conformities.

In general, the following parts of the site are not accessible:

  • Drop-down menus (e.g. title, departing now), with a complicated selection of items.
  • The various forms on the site (on the “Contact us” page or find a route, line and stop search pages) because the input fields do not work correctly with autocompletes.
  • Tooltips, which work poorly with the TAB and are poorly identified for e-readers.
  • If a form is submitted with errors, the first field to be corrected is not automatically selected. The error messages below the field are also not correctly displayed by e-readers.
  • The various tables (fares, door-to-door services for people with reduced mobility, etc.), which are not sufficiently accessible for e-readers.
  • For certain buttons and text, the contrast is not always sufficiently clear, this is especially true for jumbotroncs.
  • Tab titles that do not always match the page, which is a problem for e-readers.
  • When creating an account, the icon for displaying the password does not work correctly on the TAB and the action label (displayed/hidden) is not adapted.
  • PDFs that are not accessible (e.g. complete timetable of a line, some forms such as the one offering a subscription in exchange for returning the subscriber’s licence plate to the DIV).
  • The display of the modal windows which poses a problem with focus on e-readers as they detect the window beneath.
  • The various buttons for more options (“more” button in the header, “more” button on the FAQ page) that are not described, including the action (open/close).
  • In the “date of birth” field on the forms, the correct format (e.g. 01-01-2000) is not specified.

In the footer, the following is not accessible:

  • Language management via the keyboard, which is not functional.

On the page for “route search”, the following are not available:

  • The reading of the elements summarising an itinerary, which is not optimal. Some of the elements are read twice.
  • Icons that illustrate the route have no text alternatives (walking, bus, etc.).
  • The duration of the journey is not included in what is read.
  • The pictogram that illustrates a disruption has no text alternative.
  • The list of favourite routes that has an issue weresome elements are read twice.
  • The focus, which remains at the bottom of the page when using the earlier/later buttons.
  • The “departure” and “arrival” fields have no visible labels.

On the Homepage, the following is not accessible:

  • The favourites list structure.
  • The carousel buttons under the picture are not described.

On the page “News”, the following is not accessible :

  • Filter labels and filter selection system.
  • The checkbox labels are not correct.
  • Images all have the same name and destination for the link.

On the “Nearby” page :

  • The order in which store information is read.
  • Some information, which e-readers read several times.

For searching for routes, timetables and points of sale, we recommend using the TEC mobile application, which is much more accessible.

The VoiceOver functionality does not work optimally for:

  • Images because they do not contain textual data;
  • The search panel if it is partially closed. Indeed, on the search screen (route, line, stop) it is possible to raise or lower the panel so that more of the map can be displayed. The VoiceOver functionality does not identify the opening status of the panel and even reads hidden data;
  • Some information for cells that is not visible (e.g. in the details for the line, the PRM information linked to the stop is not read out);
  • Titles are not indicated as such;
  • Some cells that are not announced as buttons;
  • Forms, with regard to fields that are not identified as such;
  • Drop-down lists that are not standard and are consequently poorly interpreted.

With regard to the design, the following are not accessible:

  • Some elements that are insufficiently contrasted on selection (e.g. search type);
  • Animations which play on a loop whereas they should be able to be stopped;
  • The size of the text, which does not adapt according to the accessibility parameters.

With regard to wording, the following are not accessible:

  • Visual references placed in some texts.

In addition, the app is not accessible in landscape mode.

If you have any questions or thoughts about the accessibility of the TEC website and mobile application, you can contact the TEC by email at [email protected].

The aforementioned shortcomings of the website and the mobile application have been identified and will be progressively corrected.
